Season of the Crone pt. 2
Working with the Crone in the Mother Era - part 2 of 3
Crone
It’s come to my attention that a fair number of women are stepping into and claiming they are Crone, only they are not yet Crone.
They may have some Crone Wisdom but that doesn’t automatically put you in your Crone era. That’s like saying, “I know how Reiki works. I don’t need Master training. I’m reclaiming and owning that. I am Reiki Master.”
No…Being a Crone isn’t just about having Crone Wisdom. Age plays a huge factor in becoming Crone.
If like me, you’re around the age of 40, we are not even close to our Crone era. Those in their 60s, are preparing for Crone years, but it’s not until our 70s that we walk into the Crone era of our life.
There is a mortality aspect to the Crone that is often overlooked. They know, accept, and surrender to death. They know they are in the final era and journey of their life. They are going to die.
As Crones prepare for death, it’s not a maybe something will happen so let’s make some plans. It’s going to happen. PERIOD.
Their bodies are slowing down, things are harder to do, and their energy isn’t the same as it was when they were in the Mother or Maiden era.
Now, if someone’s life is shortened by illness, that’s a completely different journey.
It’s hard to find the words to clarify the feeling of knowing there’s a possibly at some point you’re going to die vs knowing it’s just a matter of time. If you were given a notice that you only had ten years to live, your focus on life would shift.
Yet, that wouldn’t feel the same as if you were Crone. Your ten years to live would focus on cramming every life experience into what little time you had left.
A Crone knows they have lived their life. She spends her final journey looking to serve others and passing on the wisdom she’s gained, while creating ways to protect the sacred tools and spaces she vowed to.
It is unknown whether I will make it to my Crone years, I have accepted that but there is still a chance that I have a least fifty years left to live.
Claiming my Crone era now would place me in the mindset of the final journey, with one ending, death. Which would unfold into a fifty-year journey to death. My mindset would be grim as I’d actively choose to reframe from experiencing new beginnings and adventures. I would feel I couldn’t make any mistakes because there was no time to restart.
I have a lot of wisdom to share and lessons to be learned over the next fifty years. That requires me to have new beginnings and to make a lot of mistakes along the way, forcing me to start over again and again.
If I was to die early and unexpectedly, my work would just be done. I would know that I didn’t complete my work. The messages of wisdom I’m supposed to offer would be passed on to someone else by spirit to complete.
When a Crone dies, she has already passed on the messages and wisdom she has vowed to do. She knows she’s completed her work.
Disservices in the Reclaiming
As I mentioned above, there are those claiming Crone that shouldn’t be. While I don’t believe they are meaning to, they are doing a major disservice to the process of the reclaiming of Crone AND Mother.
There’s a rabbit hole we can wander down just thinking about all the reasons why someone wants to jump or “level up” to Crone before their time. Like wanting to be Moana’s Grandmother, because she gets to live so freely and is not held down by anyone’s judgement.
Below are a few reasons a person would want to Spiritually Bypass the Mother and walk into Crone.
1. They don’t fully understand what a Crone is
2. They’re trying to free themselves from the patriarchal idea of Mother
3. They don’t understand the Mother
These reasons create a disservice to the community and our journey.
When someone claims to be something they are not, whether they are fully aware or are ignorant, they are tricking and misleading others. They are damaging the already fragile reputation the Light Community has been trying to rebuild since the patriarchy started hunting witches.
Thanks to social media and the internet we have created a lot of connection between the Light community and the “muggles”. Yet, it’s created a false acceptance from the muggle community. There’s a lot of people that are still super wary of the Light Community.
When they see someone claim, ‘I AM CRONE’ who’s in their 40s and they think, “That looks nothing like the village weirdo from Moana.” They were already not buying what we are selling and when they see us tricking, misleading or just full of ourselves, they discredit the entire group.
Reclaiming the Crone just because it’s cool, it’s not the right idea, especially if you are not in your Crone era. Reaching the age of a Crone does not guarantee that you are Crone either.
I’ve met many women at the age of Crone that due to societal conditionings and unhealed trauma are not holding the aspects and energies of the Crone. Some are even still stuck in their Maiden era.
Crones sit in a different energy, and it’s an energy that holds great power and presence. Their energy holds: sovereignty, completion, connection, peace, love, service, honor, respect, presence, silence, stillness, observation, humbleness, perspective of the big picture, a sense of knowing, and the wisdom of not knowing.
Reclaiming a holy name like Crone means that you are showing up as the entire force of nature that is Crone. Showing up as the bridge between Life and Death. Showing up in service to all while being defined by NONE. Nothing would sway you from the truth of your sovereignty.
As the Mother or the Maiden, you can help reclaim and work with the Crone energies, by respecting and honoring those that are Crone. Understanding what it means to be Crone and by referring to those that are Crone as Crone. While finding ways that you can be in service and learn from them.
Go deeper into the Crone by reading: A Call to the Crone – Weaving Wisdom with Threads of Irish Heritage by Judith Nilan.
I understand that just because I’ve worked in a Crone circle for the last 2 years, it doesn’t make me a Crone. Though I work with Crones, I am in the Mother era in service to these Crones. I view it as the opportunity it is. I learn, grow, and observe the Crones so when it’s my time to walk into Crone, I’ll be ready. I’ll have a roadmap to follow and be able teach others the wisdom of walking into Crone.
The Crones I work with have taught me how childish my thinking can still be. My thinking isn’t always formed with the wisdom and presence of a Crone. I’ve found this understanding through observing them. For a Crone won’t tell you how childish you’re acting, they’ll wait for you to see it yourself.
Time being liminal, we received Crone teachings in our past lives that we bring into this life. But we must have the real time body and mindset experience of being Crone to fully embody the Crone.
Which means patiently waiting for our Crone era to come.
The Crones I work with have shown me how I hold Crone wisdom. Yet, I do not fully embody Crone. I’m still learning what is means and how it feels to be the Mother.
Thanks for reading Messages from the Light! This post is public so feel free to share it.
If you feel called to share gratitude for the wisdom sharing, I’ll always welcome a cup of tea.
- Thank you!
